Black Ops 6 Campaign Length Revealed — What to Expect!
The most anticipated installment in the series in recent years, Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, is set to launch on October 25, 2024, and fans are eagerly awaiting any information they can get their hands on about the game’s campaign.
With the game’s reveal at the Xbox Games Showcase, Treyarch and Raven Software have begun to gradually reveal what players can expect from the latest installment in the iconic franchise.
As the beta dates draw closer, the developers are sharing more details about the game’s single-player experience, including its length, variety, and the ways in which it will immerse players in the clandestine world of Black Ops.
A “Classic” Call of Duty Campaign Experience
In a recent interview with Game File, Yale Miller, director of production at Treyarch, shed some light on what fans can anticipate from the Black Ops 6 campaign. When asked about the length of the Black Ops 6 campaign, Miller stated:
“Currently, the game’s netting out in the kind of length of a classic Call of Duty campaign.”
Looking back at the campaign lengths of classic Call of Duty games, such as the original Call of Duty, Call of Duty 2, and Call of Duty 3, players could expect to spend around 6-8 hours completing the main story.
Later entries that can also technically be termed as “classic,” like Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare and Call of Duty: Black Ops, also featured campaigns that clocked in at around 6-7 hours
So, based on Miller’s comments, it is reasonable to assume that the next Black Ops 6 will have a single-player campaign lasting roughly 7 hours.
“Variety” and “Player Choice”
In addition to discussing the campaign’s length, Miller also touched on the importance of “variety” in the single-player experience. He emphasized that players don’t want a one-note adventure, and that the Black Ops series lends itself well to diverse mission types, ranging from “heist missions, and your puzzle-solving and stealth and your big military incursions as well.”

“…While they want a lot of freedom, and they want a lot of variety…they also want to get taken on the roller coaster rides as well…
—Yale Miller, Director of Production at Treyarch
I think a big goal for us all is just to give players the opportunity to be smart, where you’re not just taking them on this journey the whole time, where they have the opportunity to explore and decide how they want to get through a situation.”
This suggests that Black Ops 6 may allow players to approach and complete missions more independently, encouraging exploration and strategic thinking — all whilst providing some intense adrenaline-inducing action!
Only time will tell if Black Ops 6 can live up to the hype and deliver a campaign that satisfies both longtime fans and newcomers to the franchise. As we count down the days to October 25, 2024, the anticipation continues to build for what could be one of the most exciting entries in the Call of Duty series to date!
