Black Ops 6 Has Been in Playtesting For Over Two Years
Activision officially announced the next Call of Duty title on Thursday, confirming it as ‘Black Ops 6’—not Black Ops: Gulf War or Black Ops V, as many fans speculated due to supposed “leaks.” With the secrecy lifted, Treyarch developers, who have worked on the game for the past four years, now seem more open to discussing the project on social media.
Shortly after the official Treyarch Studios Twitter account posted the official BO6 logo reveal, game designer Nicole Havin (@nicolehavin) quoted the post, revealing that they have been playtesting the game for over two years. Havin also teased that fans “aren’t ready” for the upcoming title, which has undoubtedly sparked even more excitement.

Nicole’s bio indicates they are a game designer for the zombies mode, explaining the numerous Zombies-related replies to their revelation. However, a common prayer from fans to Treyarch is that Black Ops 6 doesn’t turn out to be a disappointment like Modern Warfare 3 was for many players.
Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 is set to be the first title in the Black Ops series in four years and Treyarch’s first project as lead developers in that same period—the longest development time for any COD title. This extended development has unsurprisingly heightened both expectations and excitement for the game. Treyarch, Raven Software, and Activision must ensure that BO6 lives up to the hype and becomes a cherished entry in the series — not one that disappoints.
