Call of Duty 2024 is Black Ops 6
After months of rumors, speculations, and leaks, we finally have official confirmation from Activision about the next Call of Duty title. Initially rumored to be Black Ops: Gulf War and then Black Ops V, 2024’s highly anticipated entry in the popular series is, in fact, Call of Duty: Black Ops 6!
The confirmation came through an announcement on the official blog titled “Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Official Comms Now Activated,” featuring the same Cerberus logo from the initial tease but now with the title logo unredacted. The article also confirms that the reveal event, ‘Black Ops 6 Direct,’ will follow the Xbox Games Showcase, scheduled for Sunday, June 9th at 10 AM PT.
So, to clear up any confusion, the last Black Ops game was Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War (2020), technically making it ‘Black Ops 5’ and explaining the leap from BO4 to BO6. However, naming conventions aside, Black Ops 6 is a pretty big deal in and of itself — it’s the first in the series and the franchise overall to have a four-year development cycle.
Couple that with the fact that Treyarch is leading development and credible industry insiders hinting at innovative (finally) features—such as a full-fledged Open World campaign and the return of community-beloved features like round-based Zombies—the anticipation for this upcoming title is soaring to new heights.
