Black Ops 6: No Carry-Over Content from Modern Warfare Titles
The Call of Duty community is in for a major shake-up with the upcoming release of Call of Duty: Black Ops 6. Recently revealed at the Xbox Games Showcase 2024, this latest installment promises to deliver a groundbreaking experience with a host of innovative features and much-needed gameplay enhancements.
In a surprising move, Treyarch and Raven Software have announced that progress and content from Modern Warfare II and Modern Warfare III will not carry forward to Black Ops 6. This decision ensures that every player, whether a seasoned veteran or a newcomer, starts their journey in the Black Ops universe on equal footing.
A Fresh Start for All Players
With Black Ops 6 set to drop on October 25, 2024, and making its way to Xbox Game Pass, the developers are bracing for a massive influx of players eager to dive into the game’s revolutionary features and immersive narrative.
By wiping the slate clean, Treyarch and Raven Software are committed to providing an equal opportunity for everyone to fully immerse themselves in the game’s vision and innovations from day one.
In the official blog post, the developers emphasize their vision:
“We want to make sure that everybody starts fresh, together, as we move into an all-new experience with the launch of Call of Duty: Black Ops 6. Allowing everyone to experience the Black Ops universe the way it’s meant to be played, learning the era-specific weapons and gear, learning the gameplay innovations like Omnimovement, and keeping that signature Black Ops style is important.”
The Woods Operator Pack Exception
While progress and content from Modern Warfare II and Modern Warfare III will not carry over, there is one exception. Players who pre-order the Black Ops 6 Vault Edition will receive the Woods Operator Pack, which includes the Classic Woods Operator Skin.
This pack can be unlocked in Modern Warfare III and will carry forward into Black Ops 6, serving as an exclusive bonus for dedicated fans.
Warzone Integration Continues
As for Call of Duty: Warzone, the integration of content (weapons, etc.) from Modern Warfare II, Modern Warfare III, and Black Ops 6 will continue, with all three titles contributing to the battle royale experience starting with Season 1.
With Black Ops 6 set in the early 1990s, a period marked by the end of the Cold War and the rise of the United States as a global superpower, it seems like the developers want players to experience the game’s era-specific weapons, gear, and gameplay innovations, such as the revolutionary Omnimovement system, without any distractions from previous titles.
Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 is set to launch on October 25, 2024, for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Windows, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.
