Rumor: Black Ops 6 is NOT Ready to Abandon Last-Gen Consoles Yet
Activision has officially announced Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, yet the speculation and “leaks” show no signs of slowing down. The latest rumor suggests that the upcoming game will continue to be available for last-gen consoles, specifically the PlayStation 4.
The source of this new rumor is redditor u/Oufp4, who shared a screenshot screenshot claiming to be official pre-order information from GameStop. The screenshot includes a table listing BO6 SKUs, supported platforms, and retail prices ($69.99, even for last-gen). According to this “leak”, the game will launch on Sony’s previous-gen console, the PS4, with no mention of Xbox One or even the newer Xbox Series S for that matter.

@charlieINTEL was one of the first ones to report on this rumor on X, prompting a flood of comments from disappointed fans. Many are urging Activision to “move on from last-gen,” believing that older consoles are holding back the full potential of the game on newer, more advanced hardware.
However, amidst the disappointment, there are voices of optimism. “That’s fineeeeeeeeeeee, Call of Duty still looks really good. The jump from PS4 to PS5 isn’t really that significant unless you’re using really new technology,” says @MarcKingGrant. Another user points out (and I agree), “Is this not a good thing for all the other platform players? Because I’ll happily take people playing against me on their PS4 when I’m on PC.”
